Lakers, Celtics say rivalry still matters

BOSTON – The Lakers practiced Wednesday with the Boston Celtics’ league-record 17 championship banners hanging high above them in the rafters at TD Garden, one more than are pinned to the wall of honor at Staples Center. There is plenty of room for more in Boston and Los Angeles, although from the looks of it this season it could be a while before the Celtics or Lakers celebrate the raising of another championship banner.
